Certificate Programs for Universities Online education is quickly becoming a major phenomenon around the world as the ease and convenience it offers learners appeal to people just about everywhere. In the United States, a 2011 study by the Sloan Consortium found that 6 million students in the US are taking at least one online course, nearly one third of all those enrolled in higher education.
